CAPSHIELD commences in capital region
Staff Sgt. Brian Hennen, 316th Security Forces patrolman, detains a suspect after he and other suspects attempted to bring weapons onto base during the Capital Shield Exercise Oct. 27. Scenarios like this help to train security forces so they are prepared in the event of a real world situation. The exercise consisted of multiple scenarios including suspicious packages, mass casualty training, and terrorist attack procedures. Capital Shield is an annual exercise in the National Capital Region involving civilian and military authorities such as 316th Wing, 779th Medical Group, 89th Airlift Wing, Prince George’s County Fire and Police Departments and Maryland State Police.
