010726 | July 14, 2026

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. —

A UH–1N helicopter assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, made a precautionary landing near the Georgetown Reservoir in Washington, D.C., at approximately 9:26 p.m., July 13.

The aircrew landed out of an abundance of caution, as they are trained to, after observing vibrating mechanical sounds. All four crew members returned safely to Joint Base Andrews. There was no damage to the aircraft nor any property damage after the landing.

Joint Base Andrews takes the safety of the aircrew and our surrounding community seriously. The maintenance crew will assess the aircraft at the site this morning to investigate the cause of the vibrations.

Questions may be directed to the 316th Wing Public Affairs Office at 301-543-7447.
