Twin newborns medically evacuated from Osan Air Base, South Korea, landed at Joint Base Andrews in a C-17 Globemaster III this evening. The pair were then transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for advanced neonatal care.

JBA mission continues while supporting statewide stay-at-home order

Joint Base Andrews’ response to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) remains in compliance with federal regulations and supports Maryland and Virginia governors’ statewide stay-at-home orders that will take effect today. “Since declaring a public health emergency and shifting to Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Charlie, we have made significant adjustments to the way we do business,” said Col. Andrew Purath, 11th Wing and JBA commander. “All of the installation measures we have in place support the new executive orders that limit movement to essential trips.”

PRESS RELEASE: Joint Base Andrews increases health protection condition

Joint Base Andrews increased its health protection condition (HPCON) at 3 p.m. today in response to the coronavirus pandemic. At the direction of Col. Andrew Purath, the commander of the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews, the base shifted from HPCON Bravo to HPCON Charlie. Other military bases throughout the National Capital Region have similarly shifted to HPCON Charlie.

Joint Base Andrews will increase its health protection condition (HPCON) at 5 a.m. tomorrow in response to the coronavirus pandemic. At the direction of Col. Andrew Purath, the commander of the 11th Wing and Joint Base Andrews, the base will shift from HPCON Alpha to HPCON Bravo.
