AFDW is the parent command to the 316th Wing and the 844th Communications Group at Joint Base Andrews, Md., and the 11th Wing at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C. AFDW provides personnel and support for Air Force activities within the National Capital Region (NCR) and approximately 33,000 Airmen and civilians performing duties in more than 500 locations across more than 100 countries. The 316th Wing provides base-level services for three headquarters, five wings, more than 80 tenant organizations, and 60,000 Airmen/family members in the NCR and globally. The 11th Wing is home to the U.S. Air Force Band and Honor Guard missions, and as the host unit, executes critical national security mission support for approximately 70 mission partners. The Air National Guard Readiness Center is responsible for ensuring ANG Field Units are properly resourced to train and equip for State and Federal missions across the entire spectrum of Military Operations. The Naval Air Facility Washington, D.C., is one of only five Navy Reserve bases in the United States. Its objective is to ensure Navy reservists have full access to the most current weapons systems available. NAF Washington has consolidated the functions of an Air Facility, a Naval Operational Support Center, and a Readiness Command under the umbrella of NAFW to ensure Navy Reservists mobilization is effective and efficient. The NAFW mission is to provide training and readiness support for four Navy squadrons, two aviation detachments, and 133 reserve units - consisting of more than 3,900 personnel.
