An A-26 Invader, the “Million Airess,” taxis onto the ramp April 15, 2025, at Sumpter Smith Joint National Guard Base, Birmingham, Alabama, as part of the 117th Air Refueling Wing and Southern Museum of Flight’s Bay of Pigs Invasion Commemoration. This years’ service marks the 64th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs mission that took the lives of four Alabama Air National Guard aviators – Leo Baker, Wade Gray, Pete Ray and Riley Shamburger.
