Phase 2 of construction continues at Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center

By Kathleen Tyler, 779th Medical Support Squadron 779th Medical Group

Foundation work to complete the center section and West Wing of Building 1060 began on January 31 and will continue through the end of February. Patients, staff and visitors may notice loud construction noise and strong vibrations in and around clinic buildings 1050 and 1060 during this time.

On May 22, 2013, the 79th Medical Wing broke ground to begin construction of the new Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center. Phase One construction included partial completion of the new clinic building 1060 and the adjacent 598-space parking garage.

Phase Two construction includes a new surface parking lot in front of building 1060, renovation of the center section of building 1060 and expansion of the West Wing, and building a state-of- the-art dental clinic in the old parking area behind building 1050.

Once the dental clinic and the new building 1060 are completed, the old clinic will be demolished. A staff parking lot will be constructed in the area previously occupied by the old clinic. All construction is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2018.

“We continue to transform Malcolm Grow, guided by a vision that calls for us to be the undisputed first choice to deliver and receive trusted care,” said Col. (Dr.) Leslie A. Knight, 779th Medical Group commander.

“We update our Facebook page and website daily. They are a great resource for the latest news and information about MGMCSC,” Knight continued.

Patients are highly encouraged to sign up for MiCare, an online secure messaging system, to ensure they receive the most current news and updates about clinic programs and events. Stop by your primary care clinic for more information and to sign up.
