JBA Airmen and Sailors ready to slug their way to Armed Services Classic Championship

By Christopher Hurd 11th Wing Public Affairs

Several members from Joint Base Andrews are scheduled to play for the Air Force and Navy National Capital Region softball teams during the free to attend preliminary rounds of the Armed Services Classic at Ryan Zimmerman Field in Washington, D.C., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 2-3.

Active-duty service members from each of the five military branches are scheduled to play four games this weekend in a round-robin tournament with the top two teams advancing to play in the championship at Nationals Park during MLB’s All-Star Week in July.

“It would be great to have the base out there routing us on, pushing us to the next level to be a part of the championship,” said Senior Airman Tylar Perez, 11th Contracting Squadron contracting specialist. “I think we are going to be stiff competition and if we come out firing we will be tough to beat.”

Air Force
