JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The 11th Civil Engineer Squadron fire prevention unit ignited their engines and soaked the Joint Base Andrews community with fire safety information during National Fire Prevention Week here, Oct. 7-13.
The week of events offered Airmen and their families potentially lifesaving information on how to prevent a fire, what to do in case of an emergency, as well as familiarizing them with the JBA first responders’ procedures.
“Fire Prevention Week is a national campaign aimed at educating the public on the fire prevention topic of the year,” said Senior Airman Dean Adamczyk, 11th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter. “This year’s topic was ‘Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.’ Look for places a fire could start, listen for the sound of the smoke alarm, and learn two ways out of every room.”
The week of events included a proclamation signing by 11th Wing and JBA Commander Col. Andrew Purath, fire truck displays and tours, giveaways at fire safety display tables in various locations around the base, a 5k run and a muster demonstration by members of the JBA fire prevention unit.
