America's Airman: SSgt Patrick James Trester

Patrick James Trester, Senior Emergency Actions Controller, 11th Wing Command Post

 

What's your hometown city and state (and country, if not U.S.)?

Adel, GA

 

Why did you decide to serve in the military?

It was a prerequisite for the good graces of my in-laws to marry my wife.

 

How do you think your job impacts the wing’s mission?

By helping transient aircraft and prepping/testing communications for emergency responses.

 

What's been your favorite assignment/TDY and why?

I was TDY at Nellis for 6 months as part of the Shadow Operations Center’s (ShOC) software development team. It was a tremendous education moment that helped me learn to efficiently produce code geared towards my home stations mission.

 

What is your dream assignment and why?

I'm torn from any teaching opportunities as well as more software development positions like Kessel Run or the ShOC.

 

What's the coolest thing you’ve done in the military?

Produce software that is actively being employed.

 

What hobbies do you have/what do you do in your spare time?

I tend to read a lot of theologically invigorating texts, from my Bible, studying the Greek texts, to works such as Turretin’s Institutes of Elenctic Theology.

 

Biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life?

Facing various medical issues with my children.
