East Jordan, Michigan

Why do you serve?

Initially, I decided to join for the experience as a way out of my very small town. After 9/11, my motivation and desire to serve increased and it just so happens that I left for basic training exactly two weeks after 9/11.

How does your job impact the wing’s mission?

My job provides deployment assistance to Department of Defense personnel and their families. Helping them navigate their way through preparing for their deployment/family separation and sustaining through the duration is crucial to the success that service member/DOD Civilian will have down range when they return.  

What's been your favorite assignment/TDY and why?

My favorite assignment was the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. I enjoyed the sunny days year round, beautiful views and the access to multiple ski resorts was great. Also, the interaction and mentorship opportunities with future officers of the Air Force was very rewarding.

What is your dream assignment and why?

My dream assignment would be anywhere in Europe. I have only been to two bases, both stateside in 18 years and I would love to experience the culture of another country.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve done in the military?

In 2007 I was able to do a humanitarian mission to Bolivia as a dental tech. It was an amazing experience.

What Hobbies do you have/what do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to do anything outdoors with my kids and dogs. We love to go boating, hiking and playing sports. Over the summer we had the chance to spend time in Alaska enjoying the outdoors.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your life?

One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is raising my kids thousands of miles away from my family.
