JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The 316th Wing hosted the 316th Operations Group’s change of command at Joint Base Andrews, Md., June 10, 2021.
Col. Anne-Marie Contreras relinquished command and Col. John Ross, former strategic planning and policy director at U.S. Special Operations Command at Camp Humphreys, South Korea, accepted command.
Col. Tyler Schaff, 316th WG and installation commander, presided over the ceremony to activate the transfer of command from Contreras to Ross.
Official change of commands are military traditions that represent a formal transfer of authority and responsibility for a unit from one commander to another.
Ross now leads the 316th OG, which consists of two squadrons, a contract maintenance unit, a contract simulator unit, and the employment of 22 UH-1N helicopters tasked with providing continuous contingency response airlift, aviation operations, and flight management support for Joint Base Andrews, joint interagency operations, senior officials in the National Capital Region, and other worldwide customers.
