Bivouac provides readiness training for 316th, 11th Wing CES Airmen

By Senior Airman Bridgitte Taylor 316th Wing Public Affairs

Col. Parkin Bryson, 316th Wing vice commander, and Col. Nichole Scott, 316th Mission Support Group commander, surveyed civil engineer Airmen during bivouac training at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa., May 25, 2022.

Scott also recognized a few 316th Civil Engineer Squadron Airmen by giving them a specialized unit coin.

Airmen from the 316th and 11th Wing CES organized a bivouac to gauge their own effectiveness and readiness as carpenters, electricians, air conditioning and heating technicians, and heavy equipment operators. Different training stations were staged throughout the bivouac to simulate broken electrical equipment, bomb detection and bricklaying.

“It’s a great opportunity to get to see bonding between the 316th and 11th Wing,” said Lt. Col Ross Dotzlaf, 316th CES commander. “It’s also nice for them to take a break from their normal day-to-day job and get out here and really immerse themselves in training.”
