JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Approximately 40 senior leaders from across Joint Base Andrews gathered for an in-depth discussion about preparations and responsibilities for the upcoming winter season at JBA, Md., Nov. 7, 2022. The intent was to distribute guidance regarding the Snow and Ice Control Plan in an effort to provide clarity for all JBA mission partners and to guarantee mission success on America’s Airfield.
The group covered lessons learned from years prior, priorities on the airfield and main roads, the current status of de-icing chemicals and snow removal equipment, and a tabletop exercise to ensure all parties understood their roles and responsibilities.
The event concluded with a “Snow Rodeo,” where JBA leadership had the opportunity to gain familiarity and operate heavy equipment alongside Airmen from the 316th Civil Engineer Squadron. This provided JBA leadership with insight on how the 316th CES operates during inclement weather, as well as a chance to interact with the Airmen who make it possible.
