By Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington Public Affairs

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington awarded a $214 million contract to build an ambulatory care center and dental clinic at Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility Washington, Oct. 29.

The project will include a multi-story ambulatory care center which will have an ambulatory surgery center, emergent care clinic department, medical home, physical and occupational therapy women's health facilities and space for other support services. It will also include a dental clinic.

Work will be performed at Joint Base Andrews, Md., and is expected to be completed by May 2016.

The new facility will replace the Malcolm Grow Medical Clinic (MGMC), the existing medical care facility at JBA. Constructed in 1958, the MGMC facility has exceeded its useful life.

The firm-fixed-price contract was awarded to Manhattan Hunt Joint Venture, based in Tulsa, Okla., for $214,801,112. The contract is incrementally funded with $148,371,366 allocated at time of award. A second increment of $66,429,746 will be funded in fiscal year 2014. The contract was competitively procured via the Navy Electronic Commerce Online website, with seven proposals received.
