JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The Team Andrews community is reminded the new vehicle barrier lighting sequence will take effect July 8 across all Air Force installations and will continue until further notice.
The new vehicle barrier light sequence is as follows:
Seeing no lights on a barrier means the same as a green traffic light; it is safe to proceed across the barrier.
If a solid yellow light is seen; the barrier is being activated and will rise in exactly three seconds. Drivers should not accelerate across the barrier but instead should safely stop your vehicle.
Seeing a solid red light means that the vehicle barrier is deploying in one second. Any attempt to cross the barrier at this point is futile. Stop immediately. Attempting to cross the barrier will result in severe damage to your vehicle and injury to yourself and others. The red light will remain of until the barrier is fully lowered.
As an additional reminder, do not stop or park on top of the vehicle security barriers even if the barrier lights are off. If the vehicle barriers are raised at any time, they will rise with enough force to lift your vehicle off the ground.
All previous vehicle barrier guidance is now void.
