Don't stress your PCS

By Daran Steele 11th Force Support Squadron assistant lodging manager of the Presidential Inn

As the first day of summer approaches, military members are eagerly checking for orders in anticipation of the next chapter in their career. That's right, PCS season is here!

There are many things the member and family need to do before a PCS move, to include; last days of school for children, complete checklists to get orders to or from Andrews and schedule Traffic Management Office pick-up dates.

Lodging is critical to the peace of mind for a family departing or arriving JBA. Last August, The 11th FSS staff opened up a brand new, 50-room temporary living facility; an improvement from the 16 former units.

Members with a PCS date can make reservations at any time by calling 301-981-4614 or emailing Andrewslodging@afncr.af.mil. Reservations can be made for 30 days (based on availability); space is limited for pet-friendly rooms.

The average cost per night at TLF is $55, compared to local hotel rates of around $200 per night. Lodging offers free Wi-Fi in rooms and a business center with CAC-enabled computer.

The Military and Family Support Center has additional information for families moving to the area, and they can be reached at 301-981-7087.
