WFC Incentive program

By Staff Sgt. Amber Russell 11th Wing Public Affairs

Motivation rests at the core of any fitness routine. Whether one's aim is to keep the same set of blues from basic- training, to score excellent on fit-to-fight test, or just seek out the natural high an intense workout can bring, exercise is paramount to well-being.

For the past four years, the West Fitness Center has gone the extra-mile to keep patrons motivated to get fit with their Joint Base Andrews Incentive program.

"People can earn points while they already do their normal workout," said Sabine Martinez, WFC fitness and operations specialist. "They can sign in on their personal cards and earn points toward prizes. At the end of the month, the points will be tallied up and if they've earned enough, they will receive a prize."

Patrons can earn 10 points while stepping it up into high-gear in aerobic class of their choice. Five points per mile are at the finish line for working out on any cardio equipment. If you like to lift, strength training weighs in at 10 points per 20-minute session. Lastly, adrenaline enthusiasts can get CrossFit, P/90X pumped, or go crazy with a session of Insanity, earning 15 points per class.

"Once a member gets to 1250 points, they will receive a water bottle," explained Martinez. "Points will continue to count towards the next level. The next prize is a T-shirt, then a gym bag."

Additionally, members of the WFC make workout routines from warm-ups to cool-downs available for anyone interested. They are also there to offer guidance as needed.

This push-for-points initiative can enhance fitness motivation in everyone from new Airmen to retirees, said Martinez.

It's a new year. Whatever motivates fitness success, bring it on!
