CFC contributors support local charities

By Senior Airman Torey Griffith 11th Wing Public Affairs

Team Andrews members have many options to choose from as they sign up to contribute to a myriad of charities supported by the Combined Federal Fund, an avenue for all federal employees to give to those less fortunate.

CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, and has been helping those in need for 50 years.

Locally, there are several charities Team Andrews members can support.

The Joint Base Andrews Fisher House enables family members to be close to their injured service member during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury. To donate, find CFC number 18622. For more information, visit www.fisherhouse.org.

The Andrews Air Force Base Youth Program, CFC number 62956, provides activities for young members of Team Andrews. For more information, visit www.316services.com.

The Parents and Children Fighting Cancer Christmas Party provides a jolly holiday break from the harsh realities of childhood cancer by, as their name indicates, throwing a Christmas party for children battling cancer. Their CFC number is 4443. For more information about the organization, call (301)981-1243.

The Andrews Community Fund, CFC number 93380, assists Team Andrews members and their families by providing emergency financial assistance. For more information, call (301)981-7087.

Friends of the Airman & Family Readiness Center, CFC number 29531, provide essential services for service members and their entire families, ranging from financial advice to help with deployments. For more information, visit www.afcrossroads.com.

The goal for the Air Force this year is 1.42 million dollars.
