JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The 2011 Joint Services Open House kicked off here today, showcasing examples of milititary airpower for DoD cardholders.
The Army Golden Knights parachute demonstration team, aerobatic performers such as the GEICO Skytypers and the Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration squadron wowed the crowds from the skies over Andrews.
On the ground, temperatures were friendly as show-goers viewed aircraft from many eras, from the last flying B-29 Superfortress, FiFi, to the F/A-18E Super Hornet fighter.
Temperatures for the Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 shows are forecast in the low to middle 80s, respectivly, with partly-cloudy skies.
Gates are scheduled to open at 8 a.m., and shuttle busses will provide free rides from FedEx Field and the Branch Ave. Metro Station all day.
