Warrior of the week

Name: Senior Airman Kat Lynn Justen

Current Duty Title:
11th Wing Public Affairs specialist

Hometown: Richmond, Illinois

Why are they being recognized?

Airman Justen manages content for three wings on the Joint Base Andrews website and is the primary liaison between information and its mass distribution on base. Whether it's writing articles, taking photographs, copy-editing text, escorting media for President Barack Obama or creating graphics, Airman Justen has been the go-to Airman in the 11th Wing Public Affairs office since 2008.

Furthermore, Airman Justen also spearheaded all of Joint Base Andrew's current social media capabilities. Here, she functioned as an Airman who both gathered and produced social media content for JBA in both online and print capacities.

In addition to her daily Air Force mission, Airman Justen also created the West Fitness Center basketball floor graphic, the current Joint Base Andrews logo and the newly minted 11th Wing commander's coin.

A largely unsung hero, Airman Justen is slated to deploy to Kabul, Afghanistan in June but her graphics around Joint Base Andrews leave a lasting mark on the installation, making all of her contributions here distinctly "Chief's Own."
