JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Name/age: SSgt Trevor S. Paradise/25
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
Current Duty Title: Response Force Leader/Installation Patrolman
Why are they being recognized?
SSgt Paradise recently completed his fulltime additional duty as the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) for one of our wounded SFS warriors. SSgt Schneider was shot in the head during the attack on the bus at Frankfurt Airport, on his way to his most recent deployment. SSgt Paradise was extremely professional and adopted a "whatever it takes" style in dealing with the wounded member and his spouse. He remained at the patient's beside in the Intensive Care Unit and stayed with him when the wounded warrior was moved to a step down unit. SSgt Paradise was always there, always positive, and always looking for ways to help. Whether it was in securing clothing, picking up family members from the airport, mailing personal items, or a host of other tasks, SSgt Paradise was on the job. No doubt he was out of pocket for some of the expenses that were not covered by the Air Force, but he continually shrugged that off, stating that his Security Force family would do the same for him. I've been visiting our warriors at Walter Reed and Bethesda for two years, and SSgt Paradise has clearly raised the bar for future FLOs to a new level. The level of maturity displayed by this young, sharp Defender made me extremely proud to be a member of the same Air Force and certainly qualifies as the Warrior of the Week.
