JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Every year the11th Wing celebrates the accomplishments of a select group of individuals. These individuals come from all walks of life, but three things they have in common are their outstanding leadership and extraordinary performance while executing their daily duties, their unwavering commitment to self improvement and their selfless involvement in the base and surrounding communities over the course of the last year. This year the 11th Wing is scheduled to honor its annual awards nominees at the 2010 Annual Awards Banquet held at the Joint Base Andrews Club Feb. 25. We will celebrate not just the efforts of our Airmen, Non-commissioned Officers, Senior Non-commissioned Officers, Company Grade Officers, Civilians, Volunteers, and Honor Guard as that would only tell half of the story. We will also be celebrating the team that helped and supported these stellar individuals achieve the honor of becoming a nominee, and for a select few, an 11th Wing Annual Award winner.
Their teams consist of front line supervisors, who have trained and mentored them, the co-workers and families who have supported and motivated them and the leadership of their organizations for recognizing, encouraging, and ultimately writing the nomination packages for their very best performers. The evening will be full of excitement as the nominees are introduced and the winners announced for the coveted title of 11th Wing Annual Award winner!
"Showcasing Excellence" is the theme of 2010's celebration, with a spotlight on the best of the best in the 11th Wing.
"I think Super Bowl MVPs," said Col. Ken Rizer, 11th Wing/Joint Base Andrews commander, when asked what he thought about annual award winners. "These are the professionals who are already a part of an outstanding team, but by their exceptional performance they rise to the very top. These superstars embody everything that goes into being the Chief's Own!"
