JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
2010 Tax Form, Pay Statement Availability Schedule
Air Force retirees with a Defense Finance and Accounting Service online, or myPay, account can download their annual account statements at https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx. Annuitant statements have been available online since Dec. 15, 2010.
There is no cost-of-living adjustment increase for military retirees or annuitants in 2011.
COLA increases are determined each year based on the rise in the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Price Index for urban wage earners and clerical workers. The Department of Labor calculates the change in the CPI for goods and services from the third quarter average of the previous year to the third quarter average for the current year.
Although Congress and the Administration decide how much to increase federal pay, because military retirees and annuitants do not receive pay increases but cost-of-living adjustments, they rely on the final CPI results.
Internal Revenue Service 1099R forms for retirees and annuitants have been posted online since Dec. 14 and 15 2010 .
Retirees who rely on the U.S. Postal Service for DFAS correspondence should have received their account statements and 1099R forms starting Dec. 16, 2010. The mailing continued through Dec. 31.
Retirees and annuitants with questions about account statements or tax forms should call the DFAS Contact Center at 1-800-321-1080 (Courtesy of DFAS).

Senate Resolution Designates Gold Star Wives Day
For the first time, America officially recognizes the contributions and dedication of military widows with ''Gold Star Wives Day.'' Senate resolution 654 designated Dec. 18, 2010 as a day to honor and recognize the contributions of the members of the Gold Star Wives of America Inc.
The group, with about 10,000 members, provides service, support and friendship to the widows and widowers of military personnel who died on active duty or as the result of service-connected causes. The public needs to be aware that the organization does exist and has existed since 1945. The only time when we are really in the eye of the public is when we are on lobbying on Capitol Hill, a member of the organization recently said.
One of the issues the Gold Star Wives would like to bring attention to is how widows receive benefits after the deaths of their husbands -- in particular, how dependency and indemnity compensation from the Department of Veterans Affairs affect a survivor's payments from the Survivors Benefit Plan.
