ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. –
At the end of a busy work week, or even a tedious work day, where does one go to unwind on Joint Base Andrews?
The Community Activity Center and the Sports Page are filled with activities and equipment to include pool, darts, shuffleboard, foosball, air hockey, board games, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and plenty of TVs for Andrews' servicemembers and families to enjoy at their leisure.
"Our facility is a great place for Airmen to relax," said Kevin Lichte, CAC and Sports Page director.
In addition to the large selection of equipment, they also have a large ballroom available that can be utilized by Airmen for official functions or even small informal get-togethers. There is also a large, covered patio area with a stage and grill that may be used for parties as well, Mr. Lichte said.
The CAC is open to everyone, not just Airmen, said Judee Sanders, 11th Force Support Squadron deputy director.
Anyone 16 and older may access the CAC without adult supervision and also participate in the tournaments such as Wii and pool, and guests 21 and older may indulge in an adult beverage while playing video games, Ms. Sanders said.
Connected to the CAC is the Sports Page, Andrews very own sports bar.
The Sports Page hosts a weekly Karaoke night Friday at 7 p.m. Also, they host Football Frenzy for the NFL Sunday ticket, which offers food specials and prize drawings.
The CAC and the Sports page is scheduled to host a "First Friday" event at 4 p.m. p.m.
"For this First Friday, we will be serving freshly grilled bratwurst and Italian sausage for $1 each," Mr. Lichte said. "We'll have other complimentary food available as well. We'll also have a band and DJ performing throughout the night with Karaoke in the Sports Page beginning at 7 p.m. as it does every Friday."
