JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The Joint Base Andrews Child Development Center, a 316th Force Support Squadron program, and Airman & Family Readiness Center offer a program for parents needing a break.
"Parents Night Out" is an evening program offered by the CDC, youth center and the AFRC. This program allows parents a "kids free" Saturday evening from 5 to 11 p.m., when they drop their children at the CDC or youth center on the designated night of the program.
"It's a great opportunity for parents to have an evening out while their children are being cared for by well trained staff and in a quality environment," said Emily Chapman, acting director CDC 1.
The Parents Night Out is open to all Department of Defense identification card holders. The cost for care is $4 an hour and a non-refundable $8 deposit is required at the time of registration. The cost for the youth center is $15 per night.
"Give Parents a Break" is an opportunity for spouses of deployed and remotely stationed personnel to receive free childcare during the monthly "Parents Night Out." Participants in this program receive referral certificates from the AFRC for the program.
Children must be registered at the central registration office if they are not currently in the Andrews system. Registration is valid for one year. Parents must bring the child's vaccine records at enrollment time.
The "Parents Night Out" is offered the first Saturday of each month unless it is a holiday weekend, in which case the Parents Night will be held the second Saturday of the month at one of the three CDCs and youth center on a rotating basis. Registration for Parents Night Out closes at 6 p.m., the Thursday prior to the program.
The CDC is open to children under the age of 5 and youth center 6 and up.
