ANDREWS AFB, Md. –
Families staying at the Andrews Fisher House will now have a greater selection of family-friendly DVDs from which to choose, thanks to a donation from the base chapel.
The base chapel believes in the Andrews Fisher House and its important mission," said Chap. (Capt.) Brandon Parker, a 316th Wing protestant chaplain, "We're donating new videos that are family-friendly and faith-building. It's something that, at the end of the day, should a family want to relax and watch a movie together, they can. The idea is whoever is over at the Fisher House can be entertained with these DVDs for whatever time they are staying there." The offer to donate family-friendly videos to the Andrews Fisher House was first proposed by Chap. (Lt. Col.) Sherouse, 316th Wing chaplain.
"As you can imagine, there is a great deal of stress associated with the families who are staying here at Fisher House while their loved ones are going through medical treatment. We try to provide all the comforts of home here, along with a very warm and welcoming environment. Anything we can do to improve their surroundings during their stay helps to reduce the stress level," said Janet Gramp, the Andrews Fisher House manager.
"We truly appreciate the support of our chapel family, as well as the many generous donors we have throughout the year," said Ms. Gramp. For more information on how to assist the Chaplain in his efforts, call the chapel at 301-981-2111.
