ANDREWS AFB, Md. –
Team Andrews members and their families can join Santa for breakfast at the Youth Center at 9 a.m. on Dec. 13. Sponsored by the Airman and Family Readiness Center and the Youth Center, the event is designed to recognize the youngest members of the military family for their efforts in supporting the mission.
"This year's 'Breakfast with Santa' is a way for us to say thank you to families for all you do," said Tech. Sgt. Erika Perrin, 316th Force Support Squadron A&FRC NCO. "Our families sacrifice a lot and help support our military members and the mission. We recognize that -- and so does Santa -- so he's coming and taking time out of his busy schedule to say 'thank you,' too."
"We're inviting all families to come out and have breakfast with us. In years past, this event was only for those children whose parent or parents were deployed. This year, we decided to open this holiday event to all families--whether their parents are deployed or not. We thought it was important to acknowledge everyone and show our appreciation," said Sergeant Perrin. "The best part is, it's all free for our families."
In addition to breakfast, chapel choirs will perform and children will have an opportunity to make ornaments. Children will also have an opportunity to take a photo with Santa.
"This is also a time that we hope families will get out and meet other military families in the community," said Sergeant Perrin. "It gives families of our deployed military members a chance to meet other families in the same situation. It's a time to bond with each other."
Families of deployed military members will be treated to a special presentation. "We have a portion of the program planned just for deployed family members," explained Sergeant Perrin. " We'll have a special gift for these children."
