ANDREWS AFB, Md. –
The Andrews Bowling Center is closed for renovations through Saturday and will reopen Monday. These renovations will include new tiles and carpets and are just the latest step in the bowling center's makeover, which has seen new furniture and 24 brand new liquid crystal display monitors installed since February.
"The goal of these renovations is to create a more comfortable family type atmosphere," said Maggie Starr, the bowling center manager.
Following the renovations the bowling center will continue providing the Andrews community with fun and safe ways to spend their leisure time.
The bowling center offers Cosmic Bowling on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9 p.m.-midnight for $12 per person, customers are entitled to shoes and unlimited bowling.
Another modification bowling center patrons will appreciate is the new Karl's Strike Zone menu which will feature daily Oriental cuisine along with a short order menu from 11 am-8pm.
Additionally, the bowling center will also host 14 bowling leagues on its 24 synthetic lanes and take reservations to host events ranging from birthday parties, to family reunions and squadron functions, said Ms. Starr.
While the bowling center's weeklong closure is bound to be felt by its loyal patrons, Ms. Starr made it clear these changes are going to be beneficial to all who come to Andrews Lanes in the future.
"I'm really looking forward to the changes and seeing the looks on peoples' faces," she said.
The efforts behind the renovation did not occur overnight. They are three years in the making and could not have been accomplished without the bowling center's staff, and the management team, especially James Campbell, the business flight chief and Judee A. Sanders, 316th Services Squadron director.
