ANDREWS AFB, Md. –
Liberty Park at Andrews recently announced that residents will have
the opportunity to shop for and sell used treasures at its first
community yard sale in base housing from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 31.
"The community yard sale is important to the Andrews community because
we do anticipate that the (Permanent Change of Station) season will be
in full-swing in the very near future," said Christine Hudson, Liberty
Park at Andrews Marketing Outreach and Housing coordinator. "I'm sure
that there are many families that would be happy to clean out their
closets and garages to prepare for their move. For those residents
that are remaining in the community, it's always fun to exchange old
treasures for new treasures. Additionally, we are excited to promote
a community wide clean-up, in conjunction with the recent Base
Clean-Up Day. Spring is a great time for a community yard sale."
Residents interested in participating in the community yard sale
should obtain a sign-up form from the housing office in advance and
simply set up items in front of the member's home.
"Residents are requested to set up items in their driveway or yard
area--those are the only approved locations," said Mrs. Hudson. "Please
do not place any items in the street or any area that impedes
traffic."
Mrs. Hudson said Liberty Park will advertise the community yard sale
through its newsletter and the AAFES radio network. Residents can also
obtain yard sale signs through the maintenance office located behind
the resale car lot at 4798 Yuma Road. Mrs. Hudson said signs should be
on display the day of the yard sale and removed at the end of the day.
Signs should be returned to the maintenance office no later than June
2 at 4 p.m.
"I'm a firm believer in the saying, 'One man's trash is another man's
treasure," said Mrs. Hudson. "It's going to be a great community-wide
event."
The rain date will be Saturday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more
information, contact Mrs. Hudson at 301-736-8083.
