ANDREWS AIR FORCE BASE, Md. –
The Town Hall meeting for the new school year will be held at the Reel Time Theatre from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m Aug. 9.
Dr. John Deasy, Prince George's County Public Schools superintendent, will speak regarding the state of Prince George's County Public Schools. He will bring others with him from the county to discuss important topics such as the state of individual schools attended by Andrews family members, Pre-K programs, School Based Parent Liaison Program, recent accomplishments, and future goals within the schools. Members of the Prince George's County Public Schools Transportation and School Security offices will also be present.
The Andrews community is invited to greet representatives from Francis T. Evans Elementary School, Stephen Decatur Middle School, and Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School as they provide information on upcoming programs at their schools.
Parents wanting to improve these schools should speak with school representatives about joining the Parent Teacher Association and volunteering time towards their achievements. Prince George's County Public Schools require volunteers to complete a commercial background check. To assist those who desire to volunteer, a mobile unit from the Prince George's County Public Schools will be available throughout the Town Hall meeting to process checks for those ready to volunteer.
The items required to complete the commercial background check include a photo identification card, social security number, date of birth, home addresses from the past seven years (city, state, and zip code only), and an eight dollar processing fee.
Parents with concerns they would like addressed at the Town Hall meeting should contact Cynthia L. Nunes-Taijeron, the School Liaison Officer at 301-981-0057 or e-mail 316MSS.SLO @Andrews.af.mil.
