316 SFS changes entry procedures

By 316th Security Forces Squadron

New base entry procedures will begin Thursday for all personnel who do not normally have access to Andrews.

"The new procedures will secure the base more efficiently and account for persons not affiliated with the military," said 1st Lt. Scott A. Haselden, 316th Security Forces Squadron assistant operations officer.

All personnel escorting guests onto the base will be required to obtain an AF Form 75, Visitor Pass, for each guest 17 years old and older, said Lieutenant Haselden. Visitor passes will be available for issue at all installation gates. Escorts will be limited to five guests from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and all day weekends and holidays.

"For large events with multiple guests, a one-time event access letter must be accomplished and delivered to the Visitor Control Center no later than three business days prior to the event," said the lieutenant. "The list must include their name, date of birth and either driver's license number or social security number for each guest."

The gate of entry for special events will now be the North Gate -- off of Suitland Parkway, north of the Main Gate -- reducing back-up at the Main Gate. A point of contact for the event must be present during the time of entry to assist with guest identification and directions to the event, he said.

Short-term contractors on the five-day access list will now be limited in the number of times they may be placed on the short-term access list, said Lieutenant Haselden.  Contractors will only be allowed on the short-term access list five days or less in a 30-day period. Members requiring access for longer periods should be processed for a long-term badge not exceeding the length of their contract.
