JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Military and government leaders gathered for the fourth annual State of the Base Address at Joint Base Andrews, April 25, 2025, highlighting key accomplishments, shared goals, and future plans to improve the base community.
U.S. Air Force Col. Jun S. Oh, 316th Wing and installation commander, opened the event by emphasizing the importance of Andrews’ mission and the responsibility it holds to both the nation and the surrounding community.
“Joint Base Andrews serves as a critical hub for national security, projecting air power globally and providing essential support to our nation’s leaders,” Oh said. “Our mission gets accomplished because more than 17,000 people from every military branch comes here to work every day-and its success is directly linked to the support we received from our local community and our elected officials at the local, state and federal levels.”
Reflecting on the relationship between Andrews and the neighboring counties , Oh emphasized the importance of partnerships and collective growth.
“Joint Base Andrews is not just a military installation, we are your neighbors, JBA is part of the local community, and we are grateful for the strong relationships we have with our surrounding counties within the DMV,” Oh said.
Maryland Delegate Karen Toles, representative for District 25, spoke on the importance of Andrews and its longstanding ties to the community.
“I am proud to tell people I have Joint Base Andrews in my District,” Toles said. “Thank you all for all that you do every single day.”
U.S. Navy Capt. Page Felini, Naval Air Facility Washington commanding officer, spoke on the joint aspect of Andrews and how it enables mission success.
“The excellent support we receive from the 316th ensures our team has access to the resources required to remain mission ready,” Felini said. “The 316th support also allows me to remain laser focused on my other two missions, which include providing executive air lift to the Department of Navy’s senior leadership and manage and equip six reserve aviation logistic companies ready to deploy worldwide in response to global contingencies.”
Oh concluded by reiterating his gratitude for the attendees’ ongoing support.
“By coming together to address shared challenges, we can make sure Joint Base Andrews continues to serve our communities and our nation with excellence,” Oh said.
Following the remarks from base leadership and elected officials, attendees toured the installations and explored displays highlighting Andrews’s diverse mission sets.
