Drinking Water available at upcoming Joint Service Open House

By Senior Airman Alex Ribbens 779 MDG Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight

Visitors at the Joint Service Open House on May 18, 19, and 20 will be able to quench their thirst at water buffalos placed strategically throughout the airfield at the open house.

A water buffalo is a 400-gallon steel tank sitting on a trailer that contains safe drinking water obtained from the Joint Base Andrews' drinking water system. All water buffaloes and drinking water are tested and certified for consumption by the base's Bioenvironmental Engineering office. This year 26 water buffaloes have been obtained to help ensure visitors have ready access to drinking water.

To better accommodate visitors, the water buffaloes have been modified to include a rack containing drinking water cups. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own containers if they would like to obtain water as well.

Last year, many visitors became overheated during the open house not realizing that drinking water was readily available in the 26 water buffaloes placed throughout the airfield. We encourage visitors to use this water source to stay hydrated and healthy.
