New TRICARE Nurse Advice Line is here to help

By Kathy Canfield 779th Medical Support Squadron

It's 11 p.m. Your child is running a high fever and can't sleep. Where do you go for help?

The Nurse Advice Line is staffed by  a team of registered nurses. They provide free medical information and advice for TRICARE beneficiaries. The staff can answer a variety of urgent health care questions 24 hours a day, seven days a week and help determine if a health care provider should be seen.

"The Nurse Advice Line is a wonderful resource for our TRICARE beneficiaries to utilize for questions and concerns. The team of registered nurses is very knowledgeable and can assist in a number of ways. It's free, so I highly encourage our patients to take advantage of this option for their healthcare needs," said Lt. Col. Jon Geno, 779th Family Health Clinic Flight commander.

This program is not a substitute for a doctor's visit. In an emergency care situation, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you are unsure of what to do, the Nurse Advice line is simply a phone call away and can help ensure your peace of mind. To call the Nurse Advice Line, dial (800) 874-2273 and select option 1.
