Joint Base Andrews, Md –
Col. Bill M. Knight, 11th Wing/JBA commander, welcomes the community to the free Heritage Park Concert event slated for July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. in front of the William A. Jones, III building.
The event, second in series of three set to take place this summer, is a display of appreciation to the community for supporting JBA. It also provides an opportunity to showcase our dedicated Airmen to the community.
"We want to show the local community how important they are to us," Knight said. "Without their support, we would not be able to get our missions accomplished."
The event brings esprit de corps with performances by the premier rock group of the United States Air Force Band Max Impact and Ceremonial Brass, and the USAF Honor Guard Drill Team. There will also be a a static display of a 1st Helicopter Squadron UH-1N Huey and other 11th Wing demonstrations.
Holding on to the nostalgia of the Joint Service Open House, which is indefinitely suspended due to budget constraints, Knight said he is determined to keep community ties tight.
"We will miss the interaction that JSOH allowed us to have with our friends in the community, but this decision will save more than $2 million in tax dollars," Knight said.
The Joint Base Andrew's Heritage Park Concert events will cost under $1,000.00 per event to host.
Non-DOD ID cardholders should park at Andrews Manor Shopping Center, located across the street from the base on Allentown Road. From there they can follow signs to the Pedestrian Gate, where they will go through a security check point.
