Warrior of the Week

By Airman 1st Class Jarrod Maidens 11th Wing Public Affairs

Senior Airman Jonathan L. Jones, an 11th Security Forces Support Squadron pass and registration clerk, is the Warrior of the Week for the week of June 11, 2014 at Joint Base Andrews.

Jones is being recognized for his actions during a medical emergency at the Visitor Control Center.

On April 22, Jones ran from the VCC to assist an unconscious child and his grandfather in the parking lot. Jones checked the child's pulse, then immediately drove the child and his grandfather to the Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center. Within 3 minutes of leaving the VCC, Jones delivered the unconscious child to emergency room personnel. The child awoke and was able to answer questions after 10 minutes of hospital care.

"Senior Airman Jones recognition of the need for medical attention and consequent actions saved precious minutes and quite possibly the life of a 12-year-old child," said Master Sgt. Randall Creed, the 11th SSPTS NCO in Charge of the Visitor's Center. "Furthermore, he highlighted the Air Force's perennial commitment to the support of the National Capital Region community."

Jones' primary responsibilities include producing media ID cards required for entry into controlled and restricted areas on JBA, conducting criminal history background checks for visitors requesting access to JBA, and producing Entry Authority Lists for more than 350 events and functions.

Jones, a Ft. Pierce, Florida native, also enjoys playing sports, health and fitness, technology, music and food.
