JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The Joint Base Andrews First Sergeant's Council handed out more than 100 free hams to Airmen Dec. 18 at the Commissary.
Hormel donated the hams as part of "Hams for Hunger" to give back to the community.
"As a first sergeant, it's truly an honor to be able to give back to our Airmen and their families, especially during the holiday season," said Master Sgt. Jeremy Peagler, 779th Medical Operations Squadron's First Sergeant.
Tom Murray, Hormel's military business manager, expressed the same sentiment.
"I think there is more joy in giving than receiving," said Murray. "I'm glad to be a part of the donation, knowing it's going to a good cause."
This isn't the first time Hormel has donated to service members and their families. The company also donated $50,000 during Easter to the Fisher House, an organization that provides housing to families of service members during hospitalization.
