JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Airman 1st Class Jeremiah Wilkins, 11th Wing Command Control protocol specialist, is this week's Warrior of the Week.
The Westfield, NY native has been executing missions for the protocol and ceremonies office since March 2013. He is a direct link to 11th Wing Command Staff and various points of contact for advice and guidance on ceremonial and protocol issues.
"Airman Wilkins has been an invaluable member of the team," Capt. Anna Lowery, 11th Wing Protocol chief said. "His ingenuity and maturity are remarkable and beyond his years."
The effort and excellence he put forth also made him a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award.
Wilkins designed and commissioned a prototype flag equipment protection and transportation system that significantly increased safety and saved 33 man-hours in labor. His design has become the benchmark design for government offices and base Honor Guard units.
Additionally, he designed and implemented five time and effort saving ceremony program and script documents, which led to numerous flawless ceremonies.
His responsible supervision of an 800-item equipment inventory, valued at more than $30,000, enabled the protocol office to provide support for over 100 special events and military ceremonies throughout the National Capital Region.
His ceremonial experience proved essential in the planning and execution of the 11th Wing's September 11th Remembrance Retreat. He trained more than 40 Airmen and wing leaders in a ceremony honoring the nations fallen.
Wilkins, who was raised in the Gambia in West Africa, said he joined the Air Force in August 2011 to serve his country, build his career and advance education.
His interests and hobbies include spending time with his wife Heather, working on vehicles, paintball, woodworking, snowboarding and longboarding.
"It means a lot to me to be recognized for doing well for my unit and helping other Airman to excel," Wilkins said. "I am honored to be selected for Warrior of the Week."
