JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
On June 15, 2016 the Airmen from the 79th Medical Wing received a big delivery. Girl Scout Cookies! The Girl Scouts from the Hudson Valley Region, New York Service Unit sent over 6000 cookies to be delivered to service members on Joint Base Andrews, Md.
They call it Operation Cookie Drop. But the real gold was the special notes hidden throughout the cookies. From the daisy members to senior girl scouts, their notes expressed thanks that put a smile on each members face.
One note from Girl Scout Amanda told it all:
"My name is Amanda; I am a 14-year-old Girl Scout from Westchester, New York in Troop 2893. I have been participating in Operation Cookie Drop since I was five years old; it is one of my favorite events and I look forward to doing it every year! I hope you get your favorite cookies (mine are the Samoas!) Thank you for all that you do for our country, I appreciate it beyond words can explain. I hope that these cookies give you a little taste of home...Be Safe!" she said.
Another note said, "Thank you for your service" and was decorated with patriotic stamps."
One young Girl Scout just drew a picture of a flag with crayons.
Each box of cookies meant something special to the men and women of the Air Force who received them.
Thank you Girl Scouts and your customers who bought extra cookies for the military members. Your appreciation for what we do means the world.
