JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
The 11th Wing hosted the 2016 Andrews Small Business Summit at the Community Commons on Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, May 17.
The summit provided an opportunity for contractor and vendor outreach and to network with officials from the 11th Contracting Squadron, in conjunction with other government buying activities on JBA and in the local area.
"The goal of the summit was to bring together small businesses in an open forum to discuss positive strategies for industry and JBA," said Brandon Ferris, 11th CONS contracting specialist. "Additionally it provided an opportunity to interact with other companies and perhaps allow for a joint venture."
George Onyenyeonwu, Spartan business and technology executive director of health care operations, and one of the approximately 150 guests, attended the summit to gain knowledge on new opportunities.
"It's always good to network with other small businesses," Onyenyeonwu said. "It can build synergy."
During the summit, there were speakers from the base including Capt. Derrick Cash, 11th CONS contracts manager, who spoke on behalf of Lt. Col. Patrick Gates, 11th Wing top business advisor.
"I spoke on the different services, construction and commodities that the 11th Wing buys, as well as the available resources for small business usage," said Cash.
The summit is open to all small businesses, local and nationwide. More information on the JBA Small Business Program can be found at:
