Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. Thomas Travis visited the 79th Medical Wing April 7 to engage with staff and recognize achievements of service members.

During the tour, Travis viewed a Military Construction project, which is building a new Malcolm Grow Medical Clinics and Surgery Center for a total of $242.9 million.  The project is currently 55% complete with clinic relocations starting in November.  Phases 2 and 3 are projected to be completed in spring 2017.  As part of the project, the oldest Dental clinic in the Air Force will be replaced by a 26,612 sq. ft., $22.8 million facility.  The new site will combine dental services and the teaching residency program under one roof.

Travis also observed special recognition to the following 79 MDW Airmen:  Airman First Class Justin Jones, Mental Health Clinic; Capt. Sabrina Sumner, Flight Med; Tech. Sgt. William Crenshaw, Public Health; Capt. Luke Cantamessa, Dental Clinic; Tech. Sgt. Deborah Garcia and Capt. Madinah Slaise, 779th Medical Group Command Group.
