JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md –
A UH-1N Huey helicopter assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron based at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland made a precautionary landing near Gwynn Park Middle School in Brandywine, Maryland at 10:02 a.m.
The precautionary landing was in response to a transmission warning light and the aircraft landed safely. There were two personnel on board.
“According to standard operations, some warning signals such as a transmission warning light, requires rotary wing crews to ‘land now and investigate later,’ in response to situations that may prove to be serious” said Lt. Col. John Conmy, 811th Operations Group deputy commander. “This crew’s timely and appropriate response assured no damage to aircraft, personnel or property.”
Maintenance crews will be arriving on scene shortly to assess the aircraft and determine if it’s fit to return to Joint Base Andrews for further inspection.
More details will be released as they become available. Questions should be directed to the 11th Wing Public Affairs Office at 240-612-4428.
