Ribbon cutting ceremony marks official opening of USO lounge

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. -- Elaine B. Rogers, USO of metropolitan Washington president, left, 1st Lt. Jason Castleberry, 89th Aerial Port Squadron passenger operations officer, John Marselle, chairman of the board for the USO, and Col. Jacqueline Van Ovost, 89th Airlift Wing commander, cut the ribbon for opening ceremonies at the passenger terminal June 9. The USO has been located inside the passenger terminal since 1995. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton traveled to Joint Base Andrews with 22 survivors of the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti Jan. 12. In Haiti, the secretary met with Haitian President Rene Preval and pledged U.S. aid in the country’s relief effort. The survivors were met upon arrival here by a medical team consisting of 79th Medical Wing personnel, Prince Georges County emergency technicians and Red Cross workers who ensured the passengers were in good health.
