JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. –
Two years ago, at my incoming change of command, I used the term “America’s Airmen” to describe our amazing force in the 11th Wing and at Joint Base Andrews. I used the term as an aspirational statement for an organization who serves and represents not just a unit, but a wing, a base, a service, and our great nation.
As I settled into my role as the 11th Wing Commander, I realized that it wasn’t just an aspiration, but you were already living up to that lofty title.
I saw it in the way you execute the mission. I saw it in your customer service. I saw it in your wingmanship. I saw it in your pride, your professionalism, and your patriotism.
I saw it from our Air Force mission partners. I saw it from our Sailors. I saw it from our family members. I saw it from our civilians. I saw it from our community partners. I saw it from our teammates at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling.
I was asked today during an interview to describe my time here in two words. My answer was quick and simple: amazed and humbled. Thank you for amazing me and the world by what you do every single day. It has been humbling to work alongside of you for these past two years as your actions, time and again, defined what it means to be America’s Airmen!
