ANDREWS AFB, Md. –
I wish everyone assigned to and living on Andrews a happy Thanksgiving.
On Thursday most of us will gather with friends or family to enjoy a great meal and give thanks for our many blessings.
Some at Andrews will celebrate Thanksgiving this year on duty. They will be guarding the base, sitting at the ready in the fire station, taking care of patients at the hospital, manning critical communication facilities, or flying missions from our flight line. Others will celebrate Thanksgiving at their homes and still others at places of worship.
Regardless of how or where we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, I ask that we remember the 400+ members of Team Andrews who are deployed and will celebrate their Thanksgiving at deployed locations throughout the world. They, like others before them, proudly and courageously answered the call during a time of war and went forward to defend our nation. Their bravery and sacrifice, like those of past Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen, ensure that all of us have the opportunity and freedom to celebrate Thanksgiving.
To all of Team Andrews, I thank you for your service to Andrews Air Force Base and our nation. Happy Thanksgiving.
