AFDW amps up for Air Force Assistance Fund with fun run

More than 800 combined Air Force District Washington,  11th Wing, 79th Medical Wing and 844th Communications Group Airmen and civilians participated in a two-mile fun run to kickoff the Air Force Assistance Fund campaign March 15. The AFAF was created to provide for charities that support Air Force families, including servicemembers, retirees, dependents and surviving spouses. The fund aids four charitable organizations: the Air Force Villages Foundation, the Air Force Enlisted Village, the Air Force Aid Society and The General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation. 89th Aerial Port Squadron supports Japan releif effort

Loaders from the 89th Aerial Port Squadron move to a C-17 Globemaster III to unload rescue equipment bound for Japan on March 12, 2011, at Joint Base Andrews, Md.  Air transportation Airmen from the 89th APS created 14 pallets of technical search and rescue gear, to include inflatable swift-water rescue boats, generators, trench rescue and cutting equipment. The gear is being transported by C-17 to more than 80 Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue technicians, to provide assistance in the rescue effort after an earthquake and tsunami hit Japan on March 11, 2011.
