Colonel Halvorsen earned the nickname the "Berlin Candy Bomber" for dropping more than 20 tons of candy to local children in Berlin, Germany, between 1948 and 1949. The BAHF showcased the C-54E transport aircraft dubbed, "The Spirit of Freedom."
