U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree visits Joint Base Andrews

— The United States Forest Service has provided a tree for display on the West Lawn of the Capitol since 1970. Every year a different national forest is selected to provide the tree. This year the Capitol Christmas Tree nicknamed “Silver Belle” comes from Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada and is approximately 50 years old. The tree was transported approximately 3700 miles and includes community whistle stops in nine states: Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky and finally ending in Maryland.
